Irvine Chiropractor Provides Shoulder Pain Treatment
There are many causes and types of shoulder pain:
- Damaged or dysfunctional rotator cuff muscles—A lot of athletes (and non-athletes) know the pain of overuse or injuries to the four muscles that stabilize shoulder movement and function. These muscles can become overstretched, tight and weak, and even suffer painful spasms. If torn or injured, they may require surgery, but the vast majority of rotator cuff muscle injuries respond very well to a combination of chiropractic care, massage and physical therapy.
- Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)—Our Irvine chiropractor has helped many patients overcome this condition in which the shoulder becomes painful and stiff to the point where movement here is practically “frozen.” Several of our patients struggled unsuccessfully to resolve their frozen shoulders with conventional cortisone injections and physical therapy; when Dr. Lee added chiropractic care and manual therapy to the treatment regimen, they finally found lasting pain relief and regained their normal range of motion.
- Pinched nerves—When a spinal misalignment in the neck or upper back pinches nerves, patients can experience a radiating pain in the shoulder. In fact, this kind of pain that radiates from the neck (cervical spine) or upper back (upper thoracic spine) and into the shoulder is usually a symptom of a spinal misalignment and/or a bulging or herniated disc. In the majority of these cases, a combination of chiropractic care, massage therapy and therapeutic exercises can successfully resolve this type of shoulder pain.
Chiropractor Dr. Lee can diagnose the underlying causes of your shoulder pain through extensive examination of the symptoms, x-rays, and in more severe cases, an MRI. Usually, rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulders and pinched nerves respond very well to a drug-free, non-invasive combination of chiropractic care, massage therapy and physical therapy. If your case is severe, however, Dr. Lee can refer you to a qualified orthopedic specialist if necessary.
