Benefits of Shockwave Therapy in Irvine
Have you been in chronic pain but nothing seems to work? Focused shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a non-surgical treatment that promotes regenerative and reparative processes of the bones, tendons, and other soft tissues.
It’s fast and effective with minimal side effects for a quick recovery. Moreover, shockwave therapy can also help:
- Improve circulation around injured soft tissues
- Break down calcified deposits in the joints and tendons, such as knee joints and rotator cuff tendons
- Stimulate cells that produce new bone tissue and connective tissue
- Alleviate pain by overstimulating nerve endings in the affected area

Shockwave Therapy FAQs
Is this treatment for everyone?
Yes. This is an FDA-approved treatment for pain. These treatments must pass stringent clinical trials and withstand clinical audit before being made available in the market for public use. However, shockwave therapy is not recommended for those who have the following conditions: pacemakers or other implanted devices, joint replacements, blood clotting disorders including thrombosis, cancerous tissues, and pregnancy.
How many sessions are required?
The treatment lasts between 5 and 10 minutes and may require three to twelve sessions, depending on the condition. A full assessment is needed to determine the number of treatments a patient will need.
Does the treatment hurt?
While shockwave may sound painful, most of our clients can handle the treatment. Most of our clients report experiencing a slight discomfort during treatment. The treatment itself doesn’t go for a long period of time so most of them are able to tolerate the small discomfort. However, if you feel pain during the treatment please notify your therapy technician so that adjustments can be made to reduce the discomfort.
